Hillcrest

Our Hillcrest branch of Kings Park Sports Medicine Centre (KPSMC) opened in May 2022. It is based on the same ethos and principles of KPSMC, which is a multidisciplinary clinic in Durban (first of its kind) formed in 1996.

This Hillcrest branch is a vibrant and dynamic multidisciplinary clinic which offers Physiotherapy and Biokinetics. Being based in the Virgin Active Gym, it offers a superb treatment and rehabilitation facility with a wide range of equipment as well as a Hydrotherapy component (one of the finest in Durban).

Our practitioners treat conditions across the board and are a proud and highly professional unit that integrate well together. We have a strong referral base for conditions that require specialised treatment or further investigations.

Anyone is welcome.

I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2016 which is an autoimmune disease where a person’s immune system attacks their own body. It is a chronic condition, meaning it does not go away, but can be managed. The immune system is partly made up of white blood cells in your body that fight off disease. In lupus, these white blood cells attack healthy parts of the body. It causes swelling and tissue damage, and can attack any part of the body. Inflammation and oxidative stress are the main causes of most diseases. If you can control inflammation and neutralise free radicals, then you will remain healthy. My daughter, Danielle Roberts is a Registered Dietician. She addressed diet, taking a functional approach using natural antioxidants from leafy greens, berries, brightly coloured vegetables & salads. In 2017 my white blood count was low, and my inflammatory markers were high. I started Cryo Conditioning, starting with a program of 10 sessions over 3 weeks. I have since maintained the Cryo sessions once a week. During whole body Cryotherapy, pro-inflammatory cytokines are decreased and anti-inflammatory cytokines are increased, causing a powerful anti-inflammatory response throughout the body. The body achieves an improved ability to eliminate free radicals, naturalize toxins and repair cellular damage. Needless to say my inflammatory markers have gone down to ZERO – unheard of and quite miraculous. Consistency is key when it comes to taking back control of your health. My blood results have normalised, another positive sign. Cryotherapy is an essential part of keeping Lupus under control.

K P medical has helped me get through and recover from multiple injuries and I could not recommend them enough. I have been fortunate enough to be treated by and work with various professionals from K P medical and each one as good as the next. Thank you to all the staff at KP medical for keeping me strong and healthy, would not be able to do what I do without you guys. Thank you.

Kings Park Medical Centre has raised the bar to a new level. I would recommend them to anyone serious about their treatment. Their attention to detail in both professional and personal capacity is unrivaled. Their knowledge of the body and ability to treat all injuries is world class. Highly recommend!

So good to find a Practice like this that understands the importance of getting back in the water while also eliminating the risk of long term injury. Very thankful to have been able to perform to the best of my ability over decades of competition.

I’ve come to KPMED to obtain treatment for severe lower back pain. I was completely debilitated from the pain and could not resume martial arts training. The physiotherapists attended to me, and the treatment was effective as I was back at the gym within a few days. In addition to that I was given a breakdown of physical activity to prevent the lower back pain from recurring. A professional and welcoming health centre with friendly service.

Kings Park Sports Medical Centre has been my choice of Physiotherapists and other Professionals ever since I moved to Durban 3 decades ago. It has been a long trusting relationship built up with its founder and has evolved into a friendship with all the practitioners and office staff over the years. The service has been professional from the point of booking to the treatments no matter who is attending to you. Looking forward to many more years of the same!
